Description

The looted statue of the Dancing Shiva stolen from the village temple and sold to the National Gallery of Australia by Manhattan dealer Subhash Kapoor was paraded through its home village today, celebrating its return. It will no longer reside in the village, but in an Indian museum in the temple town of Kumbakonam where it will be celebrated, yet safe. Villagers are confident the other stolen artifacts will soon be found and returned, though this is not the only item stolen and trafficked to an Australian museum.
